Signs of Oysters at St Mary's

St. Mary de Haura church has stood proud over the town and its people for over 900 years. It has witnessed the changing economic fortunes over the ages, including the rise and fall of a large oyster industry. The surrounding graveyard, a much-loved space in the centre of town, contains signs from this important fishery. more

Rotary help for St Mary’s Primary School musical lessons

The pandemic has been a real challenge for the children of St Mary's Primary School Pulborough, whose eldest pupils have missed a big block of musical instrument playing due to Covid, remote learning and being at home. So last year the school ran a 10 week Ukulele music course for 100 pupils from Years 5 and 6. more

Southwick Cricket Club

Southwick Green has been the local focal point for cricket for many years and last season the club successfully completed the movement of our senior league teams to Buckingham Park. The move was necessary to meet cricket’s growing demand locally and the development of the sport to shorter forms of the game that requires more space. We have been joined at Buckingham Park by Shoreham Swingers CC who make use of the ground on Sundays and mid-week and it has been great to see the park being used once again for regular cricket. more

West Sussex Charity Turning Tides

West Sussex Charity Turning Tides Launch Emergency Appeal to Support Increasing numbers of Homeless People through Covid-19 Crisis. Embargoed until Thursday 16th April 00:01 On Thursday 16th April local charity Turning Tides is launching its first ever emergency appeal in response to the escalating Covid-19 crisis. The charity has supported homeless people across West Sussex for the last 28 years but Chief Executive John Holmstrom says: ‘We have never seen anything like the situation we are facing now and urgently need to ask for help. The picture we are facing as an organisation is deeply troubling.’ more

More than a third of all Brits survive on less than six hours sleep*, and although sleep needs differ, the recommended amount for adults is between seven and nine. more
